Intel 10th Gen Desktop Processors Are Here!

Finally, Intel announced their 10th gen desktop processors line-up last week😍. According to Intel, the new core i9-10900K is the "fastest gaming processor" with 5.3Ghz boost clock and up to 10c/20T🤗. And additionally all the 10th gen core CPU’s supports Hyper-threading from i3 to all the way up to i9👏. Also now we have 3 separate boost technologies named as Turbo boost 2.0, Turbo boost max technology 3.0 and Thermal velocity boost technology. But according to some experts, the 10th gen comet lake(14 nm) CPU’s are just an upgraded version of 9th gen CPU’s😑. Architecturally speaking, there's nothing much difference in the layout between these and the 9th gen. Now let’s have a deeper look at the line-up.

I have to say, 4.9Ghz boost on all cores is pretty impressive considering it has 10 cores and 20 threads. One of the downside is Intel still does not have the official support for PCIe gen 4 which AMD announced last year with their 3rd gen Ryzen series☹. But at least we got support for DDR4 memories up to 2933Mhz while top of the line AMD supports up to 3200Mhz. Anyway, the 10th gen is launching along with the new Z490 chipset which supports Wi-Fi 6, 2.5G Ethernet and the new LGA 1200 socket. But the interesting part is that some Z490 motherboards supports PCIe Gen 4.0😵. Tech experts suggest that it might be for the 11th gen processors if they happened to support Gen 4.

So, talking about specs on the sheet, every processor now has their own 4 sub models. There is the ‘K’ which has an iGPU and overclockable🕗, the ‘KF’ model which is overclockable and does not include an iGPU, so you should have a discrete graphics card to get the display output. Then we have the ‘F’ model which represents better efficiency without an iGPU and the models without any letter has an iGPU with reduced clock speeds. Those models which has an iGPU will be having the Intel UHD graphics 630. Another drawback is that the i3&i5 series CPU’s does not have anything other than Turbo boost 2.0. Also for whatever reasons, Intel decided to give support for only up to 2666 Mhz for these line-ups🙄.

Now it is time for the enthusiast community to test the limits of these “new” processors by overclocking to its full potential🤩. While the Intel i9-10900K(10c/20T) beats AMD Ryzen 9 3950X(16c/32T) in Cinebench R20 (Single-Core) by just 8 points, red team still smashes the multi-core scores and blows intel by 2854 points since it has more cores and threads. It’s a big difference Intel!😑 You guys have to find a way to at least compete with AMD on multi-core benchmarks😕. Want to see the full spec sheet? Alright, I’ll provide it down. Have a nice day peeps😊
