Windows 10 Pro vs Home-What's the difference?

Every windows version had a home and pro editions. Likewise, you can get the latest version of Windows 10 in both these editions. But with a price difference of 60 $, should you choose pro over home edition?😕 Even if you did, what are the additional capabilities and features that will become available to you? Let’s have a closer look at what makes Windows 10 pro so special from home edition.

Differences
1.Support for up to 2TB of RAM
This is not something that a casual user should be worried about. Home edition supports up to 128 gigs of RAM which is more than enough for any home user🤷‍♂️. But if you are someone who wants more than for running complex scientific simulation or something, you might want to consider buying the pro edition.

2.BitLocker
In my opinion, this is the only feature that might be useful for a casual user within Windows 10 Pro💯. BitLocker is the built-in full disk encryption software which will require you to type in a password even before booting your device. So, if you are very concerned about your data, you can choose this option to protect your important files. This feature is much suitable for laptops so that even if it got stolen, nobody can access your data without typing the password for BitLocker since it is using 128 or 256 bit AES encryption😎.

3.Remote desktop feature
You can still get help from a friend using this feature even if you are using the home version. But the only difference is that you need a pro edition windows to control other PCs using this feature. As you can tell, this feature is included for professionals who want to access their client PCs for troubleshooting it🔧. But there are many third-party software's out there for this same purpose. TeamViewer is almost same as the native remote desktop feature.

4.Support for Hyper-V
Hyper-V is the hardware-level support for virtualization in windows. Virtual machines are used to run multiple instances of an operating system giving more flexibility to the user. It is widely used among programmers for developing and testing codes for other platforms. Therefore having the native support for VMs is always helpful for those people✌.

5.Domain join
This will allow one to securely connect to their work domain using network authorization from the system admin. It is commonly used in large corporates PCs so that an admin can allow/restrict certain features of a system for a certain user. This will essentially give moderate control to admin over all the systems that are connected to the same domain.

Should you choose Windows pro over home edition?
The answer is NO! Because for a casual user, the home edition has everything you need. Like I said before, the only thing that might push you towards the pro edition is the BitLocker software. But there are many alternatives like VeraCrypt for the same. So there is no point in spending 60$ more for nothing. With that being said, if you are a professional, going with Windows Pro might be a good option. If you have any queries regarding this topic, feel free to comment down below👇. Bonne journée🤗.
